AUTHOR: JGCB

Description:

On September 27, 2024, Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) and Summa Water Resources, Inc. (SWRI) formally signed an Agreement and a 15-year Contract of Lease on a parcel of land inside the PPFZ to be utilized as a site for its water supply facilities at the PPMC Administration Building, Joaquin Ortega Avenue, Poro, City of San Fernando, La Union.
PPMC President & CEO, Atty. Felix S. Racadio and SWRI President, Mr. Jose Antonio Soler, signed the Agreement/Contract witnessed by Vice Governor of the Province of La Union, Hon. Mario Eduardo Ortega and PPMC Directors Servillano Flores, Jr. and Edgar Santos.
SWRI will design, finance, construct, operate, and maintain the water supply facilities inside the PPFZ through desalination with no cost from the government.
This endeavor marks a milestone for PPMC as the Zone has no potable and reliable water supply facilities since time immemorial. A very first that has been made possible under the leadership and administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and under the helm of the President and CEO, Jake Bingcang and Chairman Tom Lantion of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

Poro Point Management Corporation

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
