June 23, 2026
Description:
Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), led by President and CEO Hon. Servillano C. Flores, Jr., conducted a strategic meeting with representatives from the Department of Energy (DOE) today, June 23, 2026.
The meeting was also attended by Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, alongside representatives from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), the Philippine Navy (PN), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), and the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).
The meeting highlighted potential energy exploration initiatives and infrastructure development opportunities within the Poro Point Freeport Zone (PPFZ).
PPMC remains fully committed to collaborating with national and local partners to enhance the PPFZ and strengthen its opportunities for long-term investment and sustainable economic growth in Northern Luzon.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
