On June 3, 2026, Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) successfully conducted a lecture-seminar on disaster preparedness for Poro Point Agro Industrial Development Company, Inc. (PPAIDCO). The activity aimed to enhance participants knowledge and awareness of proper safety measures in the event of fire-related incidents, earthquakes and tsunami emergencies.
A total of 25 PPAIDCO employees participated in the seminar who gained practical guidance on disaster risk preparedness.
The seminar also featured an actual emergency response drill to assess the participant’s understanding and application on the safety procedures discussed. This is to ensure their readiness in real-life disaster situations.
PPMC demonstrates its continued commitment in promoting safety and disaster preparedness among its stakeholders through these kinds of initiatives.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
