On March 12, 2026, Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) joined the nation in the 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED).
Personnel at the PPMC Administration Building and San Fernando Airport took part in the exercise, practicing the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” protocol to reinforce awareness and readiness in responding to earthquake emergencies.
Through its continuous participation in the quarterly NSED, PPMC continues to strengthen its culture of preparedness and safety in the workplace and supporting nationwide efforts to build disaster-resilient communities.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
