Description:
In celebration of Arbor Day, Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) in partnership with the La Union Prime Eagles Club (LUPEC), spearheaded the beautification of the Poro Point Freeport Zone project. A tree planting and a clean-up drive activity were held at the PPFZ on June 24, 2022.
The seedlings planted were donated by Ms. Imee Galano and the City of San Fernando, La Union.
A total of 40 members from PPMC, including Director Nicky Oller, LUPEC, and the Poro Marine Protected Area Project Management Council, attended the said activity.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
