Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) received recognition during the National Blood Donor’s Month Awarding and Ceremonies held on August 24, 2023, at the Agora Events Center, Thunderbird Resort and Casino, Poro Point Freeport Zone, City of San Fernando, La Union.
This event was organized by the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center National Voluntary Blood Services Program (ITRMC-NVBSP). The ceremony aimed to honor diverse stakeholders hailing from various local government units and private partners in Region 1, recognizing their substantial contributions to the blood donation campaign.
PPMC’s unwavering commitment to supporting the blood donation campaign remains steadfast. PPMC actively participates in blood donation drives, consistently encourages its personnel and stakeholders to become regular blood donors, and diligently fosters awareness about the paramount importance of voluntary blood donation within the local community. These cohesive initiatives underscore PPMC’s dedication to making a substantial impact on healthcare sustainability and advancing life-saving endeavors.

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of
Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation
No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the
Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a
productive economic growth center.
