PPMC PROVIDED ALTERNATIVE SHELTER TO TYPHOON MAYMAY EVACUEES

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), in partnership with the Barangay Council of Canaoay and its locators, including Thunderbird Pilipinas Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (TPHRI), extended assistance to families affected by Typhoon Maymay today, August 6, 2026.
A total of 42 families and 80 individuals were evacuated at the San Fernando Airport. While PPMC provided alternative shelter, its partners provided food packs and other essential supplies to meet the evacuees’ immediate needs.
PPMC remains committed to improving the well-being of the neighboring communities of the Poro Point Freeport Zone (PPFZ), especially during times of adversity. Through collaboration, PPMC and its partners continue to extend ti
mely assistance and strengthen a spirit of compassion, unity, and shared responsibility.

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
