The Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) joined the Philippine Business Mission to Australia last June 25 – July 1, 2023, together with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Subic-Clark Alliance for Development (SCAD), Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) and Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), to promote the Poro Point Freeport Zone as an investment destination. Organized by the SCAD, BCDA, and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Sydney, PPMC was represented by Dr. Josefa Catherine T. Bada, Vice President for Airport Management, and Ms. Eliza M. Maconocido, Business Development Manager.
The Business Mission started off with the participation of the delegation to the Australia-ASEAN Business Forum held in Sydney where BCDA Chairman Delfin Lorenzana discussed the Philippines’ Infrastructure Program.
Philippine Business Fora were conducted in Sydney and Brisbane where PPMC presented its investment opportunities. PPMC likewise took part in various networking, business-to-business meetings, and benchmarking activities.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
