PPMC holds MCW and Anti-VAWC learning session.

March 24, 2023, San Fernando, La Union – In celebration of Poro Point Management Corporation’s (PPMC) founding anniversary and in observance of the national women’s month, a learning session on Magna Carta of Women (MCW) and Anti-Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) was held for employees of PPMC and PPFZ locators such as Thunderbird, LEIAA, AICAT, Soiltech and representatives from the neighboring barangays – Barangay San Vicente, Barangay Canaoay, Barangay San Francisco, Barangay San Agustin, and Barangay Poro.
The learning session is in line with the Gender and Development initiatives of PPMC, to promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination in the workplace. The right of women against physical and mental/psychological violence were also discussed, including support.
Atty. Maribel C. Uminga of the Office of the Regional Prosecutor and Atty. Rozzanne Victoria G. Buccat-Villamin of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University served as resource speakers in the activity.

Poro Point Management Corporation

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
