Description:
Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) conducted its “Love Mother Earth” coastal clean-up drive earlier today at the Poro Point Baywalk coastal area.
Led by PPMC Chairman Hon. Nicky A. Oller and PPMC President & CEO Hon. Servillano C. Flores, Jr., a total of 55 volunteers participated in the said activity, including PPMC volunteer personnel, OJT students from the University of Abra, Barangay Poro through the Poro Marine Protected Area Management Council and Bannuar Security Services.
Through collaborative efforts, the activity highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in preserving our coastal resources and promoting a cleaner, greener community for future generations. PPMC continues to uphold its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development within the Poro Point Freeport Zone.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
