Description:
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) organized a Media Agkaysa Ronda Information Optimization on February 20, 2026. As part of this initiative, PPMC President & CEO Hon. Servillano C. Flores, Jr., was interviewed by members of the national and local media to share developmental projects in the Poro Point Freeport Zone (PPFZ).
PPMC PCEO Flores highlighted the key infrastructure developments in Poro Point, particularly the San Fernando International Seaport and San Fernando Airport, and emphasized the role in strengthening regional connectivity and supporting economic growth.
Participated by approximately 60 representatives from national and local media, the activity formed part of a broader campaign in showcasing tourism destinations and major developments in La Union. The initiative also highlighted the growing role of the City of San Fernando in contributing to the province’s progress.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
