PPMC participated in the La Union Tourism Summit 2024 on September 25, 2024, at the La Union Convention Center. Organized by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), the summit brought together tourism professionals and key stakeholders from across the province to discuss industry trends, forecasts, green investments, and sustainable development.
Dubbed “Tourism and Peace”, the event provided valuable insights into the future of tourism in La Union by highlighting the importance of sustainable practices and peacebuilding through tourism. The speakers discussed tourism as an agent of peace and inclusivity and innovative ways to ensure long-term growth while protecting the province’s natural and cultural treasures. The summit also included a trade exhibit promoting local products and artworks from local entrepreneurs and artists.
PPMC is grateful to have been part of this valuable exchange of ideas to promote greener and more peaceful tourism for La Union.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
