Spearheaded by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) and the Department of Trade and Industry La Union Provincial Office, PPMC underscored its dedication in supporting the province’s growth and fostering local entrepreneurship. The trade fair featured a curated display of Ilocano craftsmanship, presenting decors, handcrafted gifts, and reproductions of antique furniture as well as a wide variety of Ilocano-made foods. This corporate initiative reflects PPMC’s commitment to nurturing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and celebrating La Union’s rich cultural heritage.

PPMC was also present at the 2nd La Union Investment and Business Forum, hosted at Astoria Plaza, Pasig City on November 8, 2023. The objective of the Forum was to position La Union as an ideal and attractive investment destination, fostering partnerships with local economic players and offering a platform for prospective investors contemplating business expansions in the province. During the event, Ms. Josefa Catherine Bada, Vice President for Airport Management, provided insights into Poro Point Freeport Zone’s diverse business opportunities, outlined various incentives, and discussed the ongoing reconstruction/renovation of the Poro Point San Fernando Airport, emphasizing its viability and significance.

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
