PPMC President and CEO Hon. Servillano C. Flores, Jr. highlighted on his welcome remarks: “This plant is more than infrastructure—it is a shared vision realized. It addresses the long-standing challenge of potable water scarcity in the Poro Point Freeport Zone and lays the foundation for sustainable growth.”
Under a 15-year lease agreement with Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), Poro Point Summa Water, Inc. has established a seawater desalination facility designed to meet the growing demand for reliable water services within the PPFZ.
This milestone reflects PPMC’s commitment to innovative solutions and sustainable development in the region, ensuring that progress benefits both industry and community.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
