March 25, 2026

AUTHOR: JGCB

Description:

Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), through its Crash, Fire & Rescue (CFR) team, conducted a fire drill and emergency simulation for the Leading Edge International Aviation Academy Inc. (LEIAAI) on March 23, 2026. The activity was participated by 40 individuals, including student pilots, flight instructors, aircraft mechanics, and administrative personnel.

In support of Fire Prevention Month, the drill focused on basic aerodrome firefighting techniques and the proper use of fire extinguishers—reinforcing safety awareness and emergency preparedness among participants. The initiative forms part of LEIAAI’s annual safety program to ensure readiness in critical situations.

Through this continued collaboration, PPMC and LEIAAI reaffirms shared commitment to maintaining high safety standards and strengthening emergency response capabilities within the Poro Point Freeport Zone (PPFZ) and working towards a safer and more resilient environment.

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
