The workshop included a presentation and discussions on all aspects of the project including the considerations made from the last conducted workshop. In attendance are the Technical Working Group and other key stakeholders from PPMC; City of San Fernando, La Union Local Government Unit (LGU); Dagupan City, Pangasinan Local Government Unit (LGU); Alaminos City, Pangasinan Local Government Unit (LGU); National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region 1; Public-Private Partnership Center (PPPC); Philippine Ports Authority (PPA); Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 1; Philippine Coast Guard (PCG); Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Region 1; and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region I.
The Tri-City Ferry System Project is a project which aims to connect the three (3) cities within Region I, the Cities of Alaminos and Dagupan in Pangasinan, and the City of San Fernando in La Union to provide an alternative transport mode that will develop and enhance business activities not only for the three pioneer cities but also for the coastal communities and other municipalities as well as to boost the tourism potential of the region.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
