DENR EMB 1 hosts Fun Run and Zumba at the Poro Point Baywalk.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Environmental Management Bureau, Region 1, held an environmental fun run and Zumba fitness activities dubbed “EMBrace the Environment” last June 30, 2023, at the Poro Point Baywalk.
The said event was attended by 193 participants from different national government agencies.
In global observance of World Environment Day and the local celebration of June as Philippine Environment Month, the said activities aim to raise awareness of the need to protect and conserve the environment as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise.

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
