PPMC Chairman Hon. Nicky A. Oller and PPMC President & CEO Hon. Servillano C. Flores, Jr., met with key stakeholders to discuss updates and collaborative efforts for the San Fernando International Seaport Development Project on February 10, 2026 at the Provincial Capitol of La Union.
The meeting was attended by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev) Region 1 Regional Director Ms. Stephanie F. Christiansen and Assistant Secretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA) for Logistics Mr. Daniel Alfonso N. Atayde. The discussion centered on strengthening inter-agency collaboration and aligning development priorities that will provide long-term impact on regional growth and connectivity.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
