Description:
In line with the celebration of the International Coastal Clean-up Month and Poro Point Management Corporation’s (PPMC) Corporate Social Responsibility Program, a coastal clean-up activity was spearheaded by PPMC earlier today, September 30, 2022.
Volunteers started at 630am at the PPMC Admin Building and worked their way toward the coastal area at the Poro Point Baywalk. The activity ended at 8am with PPMC’s Director Nicky Oller thanking the volunteers for their participation.
A total of 67 individuals from PPMC, La Union Prime Eagles Club (LUPEC), Leading Edge International Aviation Academy Inc. (LEIAA), Poro Marine Protected Area Council, Philippine Navy, La Union Police Provincial Office, Converge La Union, McKleene Premium Products, Inc., and Bannuar Security Agency, Inc. participated in the said activity.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
