The Provincial Government of La Union held the Ayat Fest 2024 at the Poro Point Baywalk last March 2-3, 2024. Commemorating the 174th La Union Founding Anniversary, the event aimed to honor the contributions of the people of La Union in establishing and maintaining La Union as one of the most resilient and progressive provinces in the country.
Highlights of the event included the prestigious Mutia ti La Union and the Thrill Fest featuring a Hot Air Balloon Show, Car Show, Drift Show, Food Bazaar and Static Display.

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
