Description:
PPMC welcomed the University of Northern Philippines during its visit at the Poro Point Freeport Zone (PPFZ) earlier today. A total of 35 students and faculty members from the Environmental Management Office and College of Architecture participated in the learning session at the Pre-Departure Area, San Fernando Airport.
The discussion provided an overview of the PPMC’s mandate, planning system, and land development strategies, with particular focus on key infrastructure projects, including the San Fernando Airport and the San Fernando International Seaport, as well as environmental considerations integral to estate development. The activity also featured a guided tour of the PPFZ, allowing the students to gain practical insights into land use planning, estate development, and environmental management initiatives.
Through this engagement, PPMC continues to support academic institutions and remains committed to contributing to the growth and development of students by fostering knowledge-sharing and real-world learning experiences.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
