July 21, 2025
Description:
In line with its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), in partnership with the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC), spearheaded a bloodletting program on July 21, 2025, at the Pre-Departure Area, San Fernando Airport, La Union.
This initiative was part of PPMC’s CSR Program—Health, Education, Environment, Livelihood, and Strengthening Linkages through Sports (HELPS)—and was participated in by volunteers from different sectors, including the Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), PNP Aviation Security (PNP AVSEC), PNP Special Operations Unit (PNP SOU), and AAG International Center for Aviation Training (AICAT), and employees of PPMC also participated in the activity.
The bloodletting program demonstrates PPMC’s commitment to enhancing public health, saving lives, promoting volunteerism, and fostering connections with both government and private organizations, as it continues to make a positive impact in the community.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
