In culmination of the National Women’s Month, Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) distributed tokens for “Juanas” at the Poro Point Baywalk on March 31, 2025.
PPMC honors “Juanas” from all walks of life as they take the initiative to advocate for their rights, challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and serve as pioneers of change. PPMC remains committed to enhancing women’s empowerment as key contributors to national development by implementing concrete, sustainable, and inclusive actions towards gender equality.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
