Description:
Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) participated in an intensive Port Security Management Workshop led by the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) at the San Fernando Airport, La Union, from October 29 to 31, 2024.
The workshop is a critical step in bolstering our port terminals’ safety and security protocols. It provided PPMC employees with in-depth learning in advanced port security measures and security. These insights will greatly enhance our team’s ability to protect our port facilities and ensure smooth, secure operations. PPMC extends its gratitude to the OTS training team for the partnership and for sharing their expertise to uphold the highest standard of port security. PPMC remains committed to strengthening our dedication to safer and more secure ports for everyone.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
