DID YOU KNOW? February 17, 2021 is Ash Wednesday.

February 15, 2021

AUTHOR: JGCB

Description:

It is a Christian holy day of prayer, fasting, and repentance. It marks the beginning of Lent, the six weeks of penitence before Easter Sunday. It is called “Day of Ashes” because of the practice of rubbing ashes on one’s forehead on the sign of the cross to either the words: “Repent, believe in the Gospel” or the dictum “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” The ashes may be prepared by burning palm leaves from the previous year’s Palm Sunday celebrations.*

Poro Point Management Corporation

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
