Poro Point Management Corporation’s (PPMC) Crash Fire and Rescue Team responded immediately to the IQC Warehouse fire incident at the IQC Trading Compound, Brgy Poro, City of San Fernando, La Union at 4:50 pm yesterday, June 17, 2021.
Together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 1 and other fire volunteers, the fire was successfully controlled at around 6:30 pm. There were no casualties reported. Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the fire.
PPMC CFR is highly equipped to respond to emergencies and is always ready to assist the community.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
