PPMC joins the PCW in the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW.

The Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) joins the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in observing the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) from November 25 until December 12, 2022, with its theme  “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines.

This year’s advocacy aims to highlight the powerful impact of harnessing and consolidating individual efforts toward the goal of having a VAW-free Philippines.
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1172, series of 2006, and the Republic Act No. 10398, the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW is observed from November 25 to December 12 of every year, and November 25 of every year as the “National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children.”

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
