Today, February 16, 2023, Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), led by its President and CEO, Atty. Felix S. Racadio attended the Tri-City Ferry System Project Preparation Study Ceremonial Turnover at the Marco Polo Hotel in Pasig City.
The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA), turned over the Project Preparation Study (PPS) of the proposed Tri-City Ferry System Project to the project’s beneficiaries: the cities of Dagupan and Alaminos in Pangasinan and San Fernando City in La Union. Discussions on the findings of the proposed project’s PPS were also held during the said meeting. During the meeting, PPMC Atty. Felix S. Racadio expressed his support, together with other officials, to take the project forward through a public-private partnership modality. Once completed, the ferry system is expected to address the worsening traffic congestion in the three cities and the surrounding areas and to create dependable and sustainable transportation for people and goods.
In attendance were the chief executives of Alaminos, Dagupan, and San Fernando along with PPMC President & CEO Atty. Felix S. Racadio and other officials from Public-Private Partnership Center and NEDA Regional Office 1 – Ilocos, Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA), PPMC, ADB, CDIA, Department of Transportation (DOTr) and PPS Consulting Team – PhilKoei.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
