March 9, 2023

AUTHOR: JGCB

Description:

In observance of International Women’s Day and in celebration of Poro Point Management Corporation’s (PPMC) 20th founding anniversary, PPMC employees distributed tokens to “Juanas” and spearheaded a “Zumba para kay Juana” activity at the Poro Point Baywalk yesterday, March 8, 2023. A total of 80 participants attended the said activity.

PPMC celebrates “Juanas” from all walks of life as they take the center stage in standing up for their rights, challenging stereotypes, breaking barriers, and serving as pioneers of change. This month, we recognize the empowerment of women as active contributors to national development by participating in the call for concrete, sustainable and inclusive actions toward gender equality.

The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
