The Department of Health Center for Health Development – I thru the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP), held a Color Fun Run dubbed as: “Color Fun Run: Ready, Set, Du-Go,” last July 22, 2023, at the Poro Point Baywalk. The said event was attended by 500 participants from different government and private agencies.
Further, in celebration of National Blood Donors’ Month this July 2023 with the theme: “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often,” the color fun run activity likewise aims to reach a wider scope of public awareness on the importance of voluntary blood donation.
The Poro Point Freeport Zone used to house the former Wallace Air Station. The enactment of Republic Act 7227 (Bases Conversion and Development Act) on March 19, 1992 and Proclamation No. 216 on July 27, 1993 effectively transferred the stewardship of the Freeport to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to facilitate its conversion into a productive economic growth center.
